Introduction

Perhaps the most significant realization that an individual can make in regard to his or her personal growth is that success and happiness can not be achieved through a single formula. This means that several strategies should be used in addressing the challenges in life in order to achieve the desired goals. It is for this reason that I do believe in the fact that, “joy, Jesus, others and yourself is key to having happiness in all circumstances”. Success and happiness begins with understanding your personality since you can only make a difference if you understand your strengths and weaknesses. Thus I do consider my personality traits to be the key determinants of success and happiness in my life. My personality traits have helped me to make a difference in my life and this can be explained as follows.

Being Determined

Determination has always been the driving force in my life since all my accomplishments are attributed to it. Being a single mother of two, I have had to work very hard in order to meet my financial obligations over the years. Despite the numerous financial challenges that I have always faced, I have been able to support my two daughters. Even though I am proud of this accomplishment, I am not satisfied with my current financial status. This means that I am tired of struggling financially and I am determined to get a better job in the future. It is for this reason that I have had to complete my studies. It is through determination that I have succeeded in getting a collage degree twenty years after graduating from high school. Although it has taken me a very long time to complete my studies, the achievement has given me the encouragement to continue working towards my future goals. Thus I do believe that I will be able to realize my dream of developing a career in radiology through determination.

Being Adventurous

As an adventurous person, I am always willing to try new things in all aspects of my life. I am particularly very adventurous in my social life and in the way I spend my free time. As a person who enjoys travelling, I have since travelled to various cities in different states in order to meet new friends and to understand their cultures and values. The cities that I have since visited include Mexico, New York and California. Apart from travelling, I also enjoy mountain climbing. This enables me to adventure into various terrains and mountains in various parts of the world. Mountain climbing not only enables me to unwind but also to learn more about nature. Currently, I am looking forward to trying sky diving as a leisure activity to complement the rest of my hobbies. Being adventurous has enabled me to learn a lot and to discover my potential in various leisure activities. This has added great value and happiness to my life.

Being Compassionate

I usually focus on making a difference in the lives of others by helping them to handle their challenges. Helping others is an integral part of my life since I believe in the value and dignity for life. I particularly express my compassion by helping people with special needs in various parts of the world. This is because emotional support helps the needy to cope with their situation and to develop hope for a better future. It is for this reason that I once embarked on a mission trip to an orphanage in Mexico. The trip enabled me to express my concern for the needy children and to help them to cope with their situation. I also believe in assisting my friends to handle their challenges since they play an important role in my life. As a good listener, I usually give my friends the opportunity to share their problems, views, suggestions and concerns with me. This has enabled me to understand their problems. Consequently, I have been able to give my friends valuable advice that helps them to handle their situations.

Conclusion

The above discussion shows that my personality traits have been the key determinants of success and happiness in my life. This means that I depend on my personality traits to achieve my personal goals and objectives. My key personality traits include determination, compassion and being adventurous. Through determination, I have been able to complete my education and to support my two daughters. Being adventurous has enabled me to try new things especially leisure activities. This has enabled me to learn new things as well as to make new discoveries which add value to my life and make me happy. As a compassionate person, I have been able to make a difference in the lives of others. It has particularly enabled me to help people with special needs and even my friends. Thus I have been able to realize my goals by understanding my personality traits and using them effectively to handle my challenges.
